Acabamos o nosso grande projecto para 2013!! / We finish our big project for 2013!!

It took one month to achieve this our project. I confess that it was more difficult than initially thought. There are details that can make a handmade look and unprofessional and  that makes all the difference, which can spoil the visual effect of the whole.

Finally, this weekend we put the footers of the hall, which has 9 corners!. Two more inside the closet. Cutting corners means cutting 22 boards diagonally. We tried several ways and in the end the opcion was with the piece in the first photo.

It took something like 7 hours to finish the hall. However, even with this piece, we could not achieve perfection, there are always corners that don't fit perfectly (probably professional will do it!) And therefore still had to put a white mass finishing at the end, which gave one more hour ... still, liquid wood in small spaces near the doors, because we not cut the wood perfectly. One more detail: bought pine wood color liquid  (which is the reference of the ground), but when applied, it was very clear. Solution: paint over with the color used for the edge of the door. Exactly the same tone of the ground.

Apart from the corners we can refer other difficulties: when we removed the tile baseboards, wall, underneath, was irregular. Probably should have uniformed with some specific mass. But we did not, which meant there were some places where the new footer has not adhered to the wall, and others that did not fit 100%. We had to fix one by one, sometimes putting more glue, sometimes pressing against the wall more time.

Now, I think we can show it to my father, and to the world. We are pleased with the end result!

All who know us know that our greatest desire was to sell this house and restore an old house, with a small garden. But, given the situation, you know what they say, if you can not change house, change the house!

Foi o que nós fizemos!

That's what we did!

Até breve  /  See you soon
